4 Ways To Build Your List For Free

Everyone knows that email marketing is by far the most powerful form of marketing online. This has been proven time and time again. It’s much easier to build a list, than to advertise each time you need to get word out about something. Once you have your mailing list, you can feel secure in knowing that if for some reason you lost your business overnight, like for a lot of people with the past Google slaps, you don’t have to start from scratch because you have your own list, and no one can take that away from you, it’s a business asset and it’s yours.

There is a lot of hype these days about building a list of thousands of subscribers in a short period of time. I guess this attracts people, as it seems like a  fast means to an end. I prefer to build my list with a slow and steady approach.

It is far more important to have a smaller list of responsive subscribers than it is to have a larger list that is not going to respond or appreciate your emails. Quality trumps quantity in this case. There are many marketers that make a good living online with smaller lists.

It is obvious that initially you will need to create a landing page to capture you subscribers, and also a free lead magnet to incentivise people to subscribe to your list. A paid autoresponder service is also necessary, such as Aweber. The landing page can actually be created in Aweber, and they will even host the landing page for you, as part of your membership.

Getting back to the 4 ways to build your list, these can be implemented and left to add subscribers on autopilot.

  1. Always include a email signature at the bottom of your emails. Even if these are going out to people that you think may not be interested in joining your list, if your email happens to get forwarded on to someone else, there is a chance that other people may in fact subscribe to your list.
  2. When you visit other blogs and forums that you love and follow, make sure to include your URL in your comments that links back to your landing page. Many blogs encourage you to leave a URL but a lot of people don’t take advantage of this opportunity to build their list.
  3. Start to follow people on Twitter. Once you have a following, send them a short tweet about your list and where they can join it. The idea is to create curiosity to get people to click on your link, and once again offer a valuable lead magnet. This can actually be automated by using a service called Hootsuite.
  4. If you don’t yet have a blog, now is the time to get one, for free. Just go to Blogger.com or if you don’t like Blogger.com you can use a service like Typepad to host your blog. You can then either use your blog as a landing page or post on a regular basis and create an audience even faster.

The sooner you start implementing these methods the sooner you will begin building your list with very little effort.

To your online success.
